Christmas Lights Already?

I had some errands to run this morning and I just happened to walk across La Place de la Liberte – and guess what I saw?

Our hard at work city employees putting up Christmas lights! (No I’m not kidding!)

Of course, they weren’t really decorating yet for Christmas!  They’re just starting to get the lights hung – because that’s one of the things our city does really well – decorating.  And they’re just getting a jump on things!

In fact, the entire place de la liberte is decorated with lights, and they create a wonderful little Christmas village, where i go and actually do a lot of my shopping for friends and family back home every year!  The fountain is decorated in hundreds of lights and the entire thing is beautiful and looks magical.

But, while on one hand, it seems a little early (after all it’s not even Halloween yet)…on the other hand, it made me realize exactly how quickly time is passing and how close Christmas really is.  I mean – have you thought about it?  Christmas is only 69 days away!
