Dinner Party
We went to a wonderful dinner party earlier this week, and had a lot of fun. It was at the home of Christian and Martine. Christian is an artist – and in fact, he gave Alain one of his paintings as a birthday gift a couple of years ago, and it’s one of his most prized possessions.
They’re actually in the same neighborhood – they live behind the Natural History Museum and the Library building (the outside of which has just been refinished and it’s gorgeous!), so we walked over. Spring has come to the French Riviera, and everywhere you look the almond trees are in bloom, and on the wrought iron balconies, people are starting to add plants and flowers again.
As I said, Christian is an artist and I love his work. I’m looking for some photos I took during one of his last expositions at Alain’s art gallery, so I can share them with you and I also want to add him to artist’s pages at the top of the blog.
Until then, you’ll have to take my word for it that his work is fabulous.
They have a three bedroom apartment (like ours), but Christian has spent a lot of time rehabbing theirs, as they said it was in pretty bad shape when they bought it. He used strong colors and the rooms are accented by bits and pieces of artwork and furniture that they’ve collected during their travels.
Dinner was delicious – we started with a courgette tarte, and had roasted pork tenderloin with glazed vegetables and potatoes, followed by cheese and three kinds of dessert. And the wine was excellent as well. In fact, the whole evening was lots of fun!
